I’m someone who went to a data science boot camp after working as basically a TV/Film editor. This article rings true to me: I’ve had to do a lot of filling in on the more general CS / programming knowledge than I have had to refine my statistics or ML theory. They didn’t even teach how to use git or write a simple unit test at my boot camp, as much as I enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. I am still growing in the direction of a SWE.
